German e-bike
with a classic
American look
{ BIKE TEST }
LEISGER
C D5
Leisger is a German brand that is distributed in the U.S. by Magnum Bikes, and the first
model we got to test was the cus-tom-look, chopper, low-rider-style
bike. We hate to admit that we
discounted the bike at first look,
and we prejudged that it would be
more of a style and lifestyle cruiser
than a bike you would actually like
to ride. From the first ride, though,
we realized that we had jumped to
the wrong conclusion. For sure it
has a foot-forward, low-rider sort
of ride, but despite that, the CD5 is
made to ride.
“Considering the style, the performance and the comfort, the
Leisger is a great
value at the
suggested price.” As we expected, you do ride with a good deal of your weight on
the saddle, but the saddle is wide,
“upright relaxed,” and it suggests
that the bike is best suited for
neighborhood duty, urban com-
muting and general cruising. After
using the bike for all of those types
of riding, we would say that they
know the bike very well.
In a rare move for a European company, the Leisger CD5
doesn’t have the look of a classic city bike. It has styling clues
we associate with American custom motorcycles.
