Two years ago friends Pete Prebus and Ray Verhelst were talking at the Taipei Cycle Show about the European
organization called ExtraEnergy, an electric
bicycle education and advocacy group.
ExtraEnergy puts on events in Europe to
let people come out and try riding various
electric bicycles. It’s a big hit there, and Ray
and Pete thought it was time to bring that
idea to the United States. They partnered
with Hannes Neupert and with William
Sell, who was former vice president and
general manager of COMDEX and started
ExtraEnergy Services, North America.
ELECTRIC BIKE EXPO
Something for everyone
By Tony Donaldson
Some of the home-brewed rides were interesting. This solar-electric recumbent
bike ridden in by the builder claims 70+ miles per battery charge.
The staff and vendors alike were happy to
talk to everyone and get them all involved
with every aspect of electric bikes.
The Bulls Sturmvogel Evo is one of over
80 bicycles available to ride at the Expo.
