And now for something
one man’s strange,
idea of the perfect vehicle

Somewhere between the power and utility of a Nissan Leaf and the affordability and ef;ciency of
an eZip Trailz, there’s a three-wheeled
velomobile called the ELF. It’s got
pedals, gears and handlebars like a
regular bicycle, but can carry eight full
bags of groceries like a small car (up
to 350 pounds, including the rider).
It’s the brainchild of Rob Cotter and
his team at Organic Transit in Durham,

his baby, the electric-assist ELF. It is an enclosed form of
recumbent three-wheeled bikes known as velomobiles.
