The Bulls Outlaw is called a hybrid,
but it’s really closer to a hardtail mountain bike that ships with street tires.
It uses Suntour’s new rocket-ship
motor. We rode a bike with this motor
at the Sea Otter Classic, and it really
performs! We also recently rode the
Outlaw, and it’s crazy fast. The system goes to 28 mph before it cuts off
assistance, and it flies up hills. With
some good off-road tires on this bike,
it would be a fun hardtail to zip around
in the dirt. The big battery takes up
most of the front triangle bit and offers
good range with the powerful motor as
well. MSRP is $4000.
TOM 400 AND STRIDE
Prodecotech has two new bikes for
this year, the Phantom 400 and the
Stride 400. They’re similar bikes, but
one has a regular frame and one is a
step-through. They’re both twist-throt-tle-controlled, rear-hub-driven hybrid
bikes with enough suspension in the
fork to take out bumps in the road.
Both have a 10. 4 amp-hour lithium-ion
battery to take them up to 35 miles
and a 20-mph top assist speed. It
features SRAM components and
Continental Tour Ride tires for low rolling resistance. MSRP is $1499–$1699.
